What is a Multiplication Chart?
A multiplication chart is a tool used to learn how to multiply two numbers. In a multiplication table, a number on the first column is multiplied by a number on the first row. Example : In the table below 6 and 6 are multiplied to get 36.

What is multiplication?
The process of multiplying involves taking a number and adding it to itself a number of times. In simpler terms, multiplication is nothing but repeated addition. If 2 is multiplied by 3, then it becomes 2 + 2 + 2 = 6. Adding 3 times the number 2 gave us the answer. In multiplication, the final answer is called a product.
The multiplication table shows the products of two numbers as a rectangular array. Usually, one set of numbers is written on the left column and the other set on the top.
How to learn multiplication using the multiplication table?
Most of us have probably tried our hardest to learn multiplication tables at a very young age. It is no longer that difficult. The matrix of numbers makes it easy for you to learn all the tables and do multiplication like never before.
Try now and never forget your tables forever.
Step 1: Understand how the Times table grid works. The numbers are arranged in a sequence with up to ten numbers in a row. The size of the grid is expandable and you can pick the chart based on the tables that you need to memorize.
Step 2: Order doesn’t matter. You can shuffle the multiplicands in either way, still you will get the same answer.
Step 3: Pick the first number from the top row and the second number from the first column.
Step 4: Now it is time to find the answer! Move down from the first number eventually while moving right from the second number.
Step 5: Voila! The place where the two lines meet, gives us the final answer.
For example,
Let’s look at the grid below and do a simple multiplication.
5 x 4 = ?
(GRID)- Example
So here we are starting from the number 5 on the first column and from the number 4 on the top row. By moving down from 5 and moving right from 4, you can find the final answer 20. (5x4=20).
Who invented multiplication and when was it invented?
4000 years ago, the Babylonians created the earliest known multiplication tables. They used a 60-point base. China's Warring States period, during which bamboo strips were used for multiplication tables, gave rise to the oldest tables with a base of 10. In some cases, the multiplication table has been attributed to Pythagoras, a Greek philosopher, and mathematician. Followed by that Mathematicians across the globe worked on it and consistently improvised the method of multiplication.
